The Basket Index™

A family-of-four basket of everyday essentials in Ohio costs about $2,447 a month — that's $128 more a month than a year ago.

That's roughly $1,538 more over a full year — driven most by gasoline (regular unleaded), oranges (navel) and ground beef (100% beef).

A fixed basket of everyday essentials priced with published federal averages — an estimate of cost, not a survey of real purchases. How this is calculated.
